There are some cases wherein the man has low sperm count while the female has endometriosis and so on. Interestingly, of all the factors listed, highest percentage is unexplained. This means there are cases wherein the doctor cannot find any medical explanation or cause of the problem. This may have something to do with a person’s lifestyle, nutritional deficiencies, and even emotional reasons.

In most cases, natural approach has been an effective solution since there are many causes for difficulties while trying to get pregnant. Since there are many elements involved, a change in a person’s lifestyle, such as in diet and in taking nutritional supplements, can spell the difference between conceiving a child and infertility. There is also a twenty percent success rate in assisted conception that makes it a considerable option. Many couples seeking for fertility help go through extensive natural treatment plans.

Before going through further details, one important fact that couples with infertility problems should know is that it takes at least three months for oocytes or immature eggs to be released in ovulation and it takes the same amount of time for sperm cells to develop, ready for ejaculation. This process known as the pre-conception care is an important stage wherein a four-month period is given for couples to improve their fertility.

Female Hormone Test or the Saliva is one of the most common infertility tests. In this test, eleven samples of saliva taken at specific times are collected and sent to the laboratory for study. Oestrogen and progesterone levels are charted in this test and a pattern that will reveal problems in progesterone levels, phasing of the cycle, and ovulation are taken.

After learning about the test results, dietary recommendations are usually given. Infertility doctors base this recommendation on the test results to correct hormone imbalances that may cause the problem. What most people do not know is that there are certain foods that lower and increases fertility. Alcohol, for instance, reduces fertility by half. Research shows that alcohol causes decrease in sperm count, a lower proportion of motile sperm, and an increase in abnormal sperm. Zinc, an important mineral for male fertility, is inhibited from the body due to alcohol. Another food that decreases fertility is caffeine. Drinking even a cup of coffee per day decreases the chance of conceiving to half. That is why caffeine, colas, black teas, and chocolates are prohibited during the pre-conception care. Environmental Oestrogens known as Xenoestrogens is one of the culprits that causes hormonal imbalance. Buying organic food will help increase fertility. Smoking is a big factor for infertility among women. It even causes early menopause. With men, smoking causes decrease in sperm count, increase in abnormal sperm, and increase in sluggish sperm.

Despite all these environmental and hormonal factors, there are supplements and dietary recommendations that can improve fertility. Supplements are necessary since diet alone will not give you the results you need. Among the nutrients that give the best chance of conception are Folic Acid, Zinc, Essential Fatty Acids, Selenium, Vitamins E C and A, L-Arginine, and L-Carnitine. There are also Herbal Treatment that aids in restoring hormonal balance. It also gives the best chances in maintaining pregnancy.

There are solutions to certain infertility problems. While it is a case to case basis infertility solution is becoming more and more accurate and effective as scientific studies and discoveries are being made. The best solution to this problem though is to not give up hope and seek medical assistance as soon as possible.
